Local Lodge 502 Boilermakers
Local 502 has established a tradition of excellence in construction division Boilermakeing. This tradition is due to the training the Local provides for all of it’s members. One of the most essential skills needed for the trade is welding. Local 502 has welding training for Apprentices as well as Journeyman Boilermakers. The skills taught at the school range from basic arc welding to TIG welding. Other welding taught at the hall are stainless steel stick and TIG, Wire feed, and when it is needed, automatic welding training, using the latest automated welding equipment. The local provides this training program to assist Apprentices and Journeyman to get ready to take weld tests on jobs as well as common arc training. Contractors working with Local 502 Boilermakers require common arc certifications to weld on the job, making the facilities at the local a must to continue our goal of providing a competent, skilled work force.
Apprentices are strongly encouraged to spend as much time as possible at the school to help them get the training they need to pass common arc certifications with contractors. For an Apprentice, common arc welding certifications can get hours accredited to their program as well as make them a more marketable valued resource to the contractors. Apprentices also have first priority at the school.
