ORGANIZE
District Council 1M believes that organization and collective action is necessary to foster and adapt ways and means for the continuous improvement of the working and living standards of the members of District Council 1M.

ACTION
We strive to secure legislation in the interest of our members to bring about higher wages, shorter hours and better working conditions and to influence public opinion by peaceful and legal methods in favor of our membership and all organized labor.

SUPPORT
We work to promote, encourage and bring into existence satisfactory contractual relationships with employers in the industries from which the members of our union are drawn.

PROGRESS
District Council 1M continues to advance and maintain better relations between our members and their employers and to otherwise enrich the lives of our members and their families and all other working men and women.

Tapers

Our Drywall Taper Apprenticeship program is designed to provide aspiring drywall tapers with the skills and knowledge necessary for successful careers in the industry. Throughout the program, you'll learn how to prepare surfaces for drywall installation, apply tape and joint compound, and sand and finish walls and ceilings to create a smooth surface. You'll receive a combination of hands-on training, classroom instruction, and on-the-job experience to help you develop the necessary skills and knowledge for a successful career. As a drywall taper apprentice, you'll play a critical role in the construction of residential and commercial buildings, ensuring that walls and ceilings are properly finished for painting and other finishing work.

Glaziers

Our Glazier Apprenticeship program is designed to train individuals in the specialized skill of working with glass. Throughout the program, you'll work alongside experienced professionals to learn how to cut, install, replace, and remove glass for residential, commercial, and industrial applications. You'll receive a combination of hands-on training, classroom instruction, and on-the-job experience to help you develop the necessary skills and knowledge for a successful career. Painters

Our Painter Apprenticeship program is designed to prepare aspiring painters for successful careers in the industry. Throughout the program, you'll work alongside experienced professionals to learn how to prepare and apply paint, varnish, and other coatings to surfaces in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. You'll receive a combination of hands-on training, classroom instruction, and on-the-job experience to help you develop the necessary skills and knowledge for a successful career. As a painter apprentice, you'll play a critical role in enhancing the appearance and protection of buildings and structures, and ensuring their longevity.
